USNR cancels participation in the Portland show

USNR have always been one of the main exhibitors at the Portland Woodworking Show. Over the past 30 years, USNR has exhibited at the trade show that is now formally called the Timber Processing & Energy Expo, but is more commonly known as simply “the Portland Show.” USNR have let their customers know that the company has decided to skip this year’s show.

In a statement they explained that “in the past, we have felt that the Portland Show was an effective way to present our products and services to the market, and we valued the opportunity for in-person meetings with customers from around the world who made the trip to Portland in order to attend the show. Unfortunately, over the past decade we have felt that the show has become less and less effective for us, and at the same time we have developed the impression that the show has become less and less effective for our customers as well”.

“It seems to us that in recent years developments in communications technology have made it much easier to exchange information with our customers without the need for expensive and time-consuming travel. Even more importantly, for those times when it is useful for our customers to meet with us face-to-face, we have found that it is usually most productive to have those meetings either at a USNR facility or at our customer’s site, rather than in a trade show booth at a convention hall”.

In addition to the considerations mentioned above, another major factor in our decision about this year’s show is the fact that, right now, we are just far too busy to devote the manpower that it would require for us to participate in the show in a high-quality way. USNR is pleased to report that customer demand for our products is currently at an all-time high, and we are now faced with the largest backlog of committed customer orders that USNR has ever had”.

“Accordingly, we have decided that the most important thing we can do for our customers at the present time is to keep all hands on-deck, focusing all of our energy on delivering the quality products and services that our customers need”.
